An exclusive passport for tourists immunized against Covid-19 has taken effect in countries such as Germany, Greece and Denmark.
At the beginning of June a document has taken effect that, finally, reopens the borders of European Union countries for tourists who have already been vaccinated against the new coronavirus. The first important measure for the flexibilization of the European territory for the entry of foreigners has been named green passport, a kind of certificate that will give free passage for circulation in countries of the Schengen Zone. The certificate can be digital or printed.
Each government will be responsible for the emission of their own certificate, valid for people who present a negative PCR or prove that they have recovered from the new coronavirus in a period of 14 to 6 months before the trip, as well as for those who have been completely vaccinated against Covid-19 – with all the doses of the vaccine. It must be noted that only vaccines approved by the European Medicines Agency (the regulatory organ for medicaments in European territories) will be accepted.
At present, the Pfizer, Jansen, Oxford/Astrazenica and Moderna vaccines are accepted. Even though approved by the World Health Organization, the CoronaVac is not on the list yet. However, countries such as Switzerland and Greece accept the vaccine, which is Chinese and has been distributed in Brazil. This is because each country has autonomy to accept the vaccines that have been approved by the World Health Organization.
Besides the countries that are members of the Schengen convention – Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, France, Finland, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Norway, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic, Sweden and Switzerland – Bulgaria has also begun to issue the document.
