The Ministry of Tourism announced a growth of 40% in searches for Brazilian hotels and inns.
Home-grown is the answer, if we’re talking about tourism in a country with so many places to visit throughout its whole territory. From the cozy cold weather in the South, to the cosmopolitan cities in the Southeast, the natural beauties of the Center-west, the unforgettable beaches of the Northeast and the cultural diversity of the North, the solution for the recuperation of Brazilian tourism is to stimulate internally the discovery of such a varied and charming country, as a defense against the impacts caused by the new coronavirus pandemic with respect to international trips.
Until the mass vaccination against Covid-19, the world will have to deal with social isolation measures from time to time for the containment of the virus, which prevents major touristic planning. So the good news is the announcement by the Ministry of Tourism that, at the end of 2020, there was a 40% increase in the search for hotels and inns in the country. The Brazilian recuperation is a good sign, especially considering the increase in value of the dollar and the Euro, as well as in comparison with the numbers of the World Tourism Organization that pointed out a 70% decrease in international trips throughout 2020.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, currently the hotel network offers over 4400 rooms for guests from Brazil and from the world, and the sector will be basic for the economic recuperation of the country. Proof of this is that, during the launching of the program “Travel responsibly and rediscover Brazil”, a social alliance to speed up the recuperation of the sector and reduce the socio-economic impact of Covid-19, the Minister of Tourism, Marcelo Alvaro Antonio, was optimistic with relation to the sector’s infrastructure.
“We continue working to show that we are ready to make tourism one of the pillars of the economic recuperation of our Brazil, respecting all the biosecurity protocols” he notes. Recently, the Federal Government launched the portal: https://retomada.turismo.gov.br, which established 4 basic indicators for the recuperation: preservation of companies and jobs in the tourism sector; improvement of structure and qualification of destinations; implantation of biosecurity protocols; and promotion and stimulation of trips.
