Road transport representatives sign agreement with Government for national security policy

A great pact between representatives of road transport promises to revolutionize the national security policy in the sector. With nothing less than R $ 1.4 billion in losses caused by cargo theft in 2019, the feeling of insecurity generated serious impacts on professionals working in the area, companies and also on public finances, since the theft of goods consequently prevented the collection of taxation of products. With this, an integrated action between the CNT (National Confederation of Transport) and Sest Senat (Social Service of Transport and National Service of Apprenticeship in Transport) promises to change this scenario and recover investments in the sector.

Well received by transporters – who had to invest even more in security systems in the last year – the technical cooperation agreement signed with the Ministry of Justice, has the power of a task force in tackling criminal actions on the roads. According to Vander Costa, president of CNT and the National Councils of Sest Senat, intervention is urgent to fight organized crime that haunts Brazilian highways.

“Public security is currently one of the topics that most concerns Brazilians. And transportation is directly affected by this reality. The sector is vulnerable to articulated actions by criminal organizations. Therefore, we need public security responses and improvement of the legal authorities aimed at punishing, in an exemplary way, crimes of this nature. This act demonstrates the commitment of the federal government, through the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, to ensure means to increase the security of the sector and the Brazilian population “, stated the representative, complemented by the Executive Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, Tércio Issami Tokano.

“The transport sector accounts for a very large portion of the economy and will be fundamental for the resumption of economic development in Brazil at the time of the post-pandemic. The agreement will allow for the implementation of many actions and a joint effort between the ministry and the transportation sector to ensure more security to the activity.” said the member of the Ministry of Justice.

The technical cooperation agreement paved the way for the creation of the Integrated Operations Program to Combat Cargo Theft (PROINT), which was instituted by Decree No. 8.614 / 2015. The program will subsidize police activity, the promotion of campaigns – from education and training activities for those working in the transport and logistics sector to the updating of public agents responsible for the prevention, inspection and repression of cargo theft – as well as encouraging the most modern initiatives in relation to cargo tracking.

In the logistics market since 1924, FINK has the most modern fleet tracking and control system. The strict control, done 24/7 x 7 days a week, guarantees total security in the transport of our customers’ items.
