The United States have reopened their borders to foreigners, after about 1 year and a half of being closed for the containment of the new coronavirus pandemic. The announcement was made by the Brazilian and American embassies and consulates, which will have to create a real task force to recommence the issue of visas for entry into American territory. This is because, at the present moment, the American consulate will only issue visas for students and for emergency situations. For other cases, the waiting time for obtaining or renewing the visa can be up to a year and two months.
The detention worries the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but the American diplomatic representation has informed the newspaper “Estadão” that they are working “to resume their routine services in a safe way as quickly as possible”. With the undetermined deadline for scheduling, a valuable tip for those who want the visa is to prepare in advance all the necessary documentation, as well as paying the visa fee even before reaching the interview stage. If you need guidance with regard to the documents and to the whole process, get in touch with one of FINK’s specialists.
The vaccine will be mandatory for those who wish to travel to the USA
It’s worth noting that foreigners interested in traveling to the United States will have to present a document attesting the complete vaccination process. That is: they will admit only Brazilians who have taken both doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 – in the case of the vaccines – AstraZeneca, CoronaVac e Pfizer – or, for those who received the Janssen single dose, the immunizers authorized by the Food and Drugs Administration, the American regulatory agency of medicines.
The USA is on the list of most sought-after destinations by Brazilians
According to CNN Brasil, in a consultation with travel agencies, since the United States announced the reopening of their borders, those interested in visiting the country grew close to 400%. The United States are the second most wanted international destination by Brazilians, behind only Argentina. In 2019, before the pandemic, 2,1 million Brazilians visited the USA.
